CLIENT: Aussie Grit Apparel, an Australian start-up spearheaded by former Formula One driver Mark Webber. aussiegritapparel.com/gb

BRIEF: With their tagline, No Stone Unturned, this brand new apparel company provided an exacting brief to capture their Brand Ambassador wearing their products and putting them through their paces. The Ambassador was to be shown being challenged by nature in an environment that was unmistakably British. A number of edits were required for a variety of channels including Instagram, Twitter and YouTube - all of which have different standards and frame sizes. Additional product demonstration material to accompany written blogs was also part of the brief.

THE SHOOT: Filming on the South Downs accompanied by a spectacular sunrise doesn’t get much better, even if it was in sub zero temperatures. Starting at 6am, we had to work extremely quickly to assess the location and capture as much footage as we could bathed in the beautiful light of mother nature. We shot in Sony’s SLog3 to give us the best chance to grade the full dynamic range of the material.

CLIENT: 'Operation Encounter' an events company that runs unique, realistic and fun military experiences

BRIEF: To give this start-up company an arresting, powerful video for use on multiple social media platforms to bring in new business. The client was keen for the video to be fast-paced, convey a very realistic sense of the experience they offer, at the same time as being fun and accessible to all.

THE SHOOT: We accompanied a group to the Pippingford Park estate in Kent which is also home to the BBC's hostile environment training. It was critical to capture all the footage in a single day which, being February, gave us only 7 hours of usable light. The complicated location was extensively recced and the day rigorously programmed in order to capture all the footage required for the edit. The shoot was organised into 8 main sections: Briefing, Kit issue, Boats, Abseil, Maps, Patrol, Attack and Recovery. This project gave us ample opportunity to test-drive our newly acquired Sony FS7Mkii camera with its fantastic slo-motion capability.

CLIENT: Ambitious about Autism is a charity supporting children and young people with autism and their families.

BRIEF: To cover the London Marathon and those running to raise money for the charity.

THE SHOOT: The London Marathon is extremely difficult to film as the crowds are vast and the organisers very unwilling to help independent filmmakers. So the route was extensively researched and a precise plan made in order to get the shots we needed to really get close to the runners at key stages. We talked to coffee shops and small businesses along the route who kindly allowed us access to balconies, bridges and other locations. A very long day but extremely worthwhile and rewarding for all the planning done.

CLIENT: Barclays Life Skills, an ongoing educational campaign by the bank to help young people understand and develop keys skills required in the world of work.

BRIEF: To produce an upbeat promotional video of a group of British students' visit to Facebook in California who had won the Barclays' Work Experience of a Lifetime competition.

THE SHOOT: Much as we'd have loved to travel to the United States, we were just hired to edit this one. There were a variety of platforms to be considered for the material sent to us which also needed to be formatted, branded and edited in 5 or 6 different ways. This cut was the main edit focussing on the young people.

CLIENT: TEDx Euston, a long-running TEDx event focusing on the diversity and potential of the countries on the African continent.

BRIEF: To Livestream the entire event of 18 talks, shooting on 4 cameras, and re-edit the day's output for submission to the TED website

THE SHOOT: Our long-standing relationship with TEDx Euston going back to 2014 was pushed up a notch when they asked us to Livestream their most recent event, presenting us with new technical challenges. We recced the location multiple times, liaised with the on-site technical crew and brought in the required expertise to produce a faultless production on the day. With 4 cameras shooting simultaneously, the data requirements were considerable and carefully managed.

CLIENT: Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge promoting its Master of Accounting programme in partnership with EY

BRIEF: To produce a LinkedIn promo on the subject of Leadership in partnership with one of the big 4 accounting firms, EY.

THE SHOOT: Interview and b-roll filmed in and around the London offices of EY over the course of a morning and combined with stock footage from Getty. In an extremely sensitive environment we had to work quickly to avoid disruption and minimise the impact on the contributors time.

CLIENT: Marsh McLennan, global professional services firm

BRIEF: To produce an animated promotional film using established brand guidelines and colour palette. Adapt existing messaging into a tight script, develop concepts and work up into a storyboard in preparation for animation.

THE SHOOT: Working with our partner animators, we project managed this brief into the finished piece during the COVID pandemic.

CLIENT: Anglia Ruskin, Healthcare Science department.

BRIEF: To produce a number of videos for use on Facebook and elsewhere with the goal of giving prospective students an insight into the Football Residential part of an online Football Coaching degree programme.

THE SHOOT: Shot over 2 days in multiple locations around Cambridge. As the shoot was very last minute, there was little time for preproduction so we shot on the fly with a strong sense of the editing requirements to keep shooting tight.

CLIENT: Ark Tindal, Birmingham promo

BRIEF: To produce a brisk promotional film for this high-achieving school in Birmingham.

THE SHOOT: Working in a school environment comes with a whole host of safeguarding and other issues that have to be planned for. We worked with the school and head office to ensure that the shoot went without a hitch. Filming in classrooms can be tremendously disruptive for children and staff and so we had minimal time to capture the shots we needed. Teachers who were not used to being on camera were coached to give performances that are confident and assured. Very enjoyable project - one of many.
